An Open Letter to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) from National Military/Veterans Advocate
Al Burzynski - Fight for the Fallen™

January 7, 2019

My name is Al Burzynski, and I am a Veteran.  I proudly followed in the footsteps of my father who served during World War II and the Korean War and my idols such as Harley Race, Classy Freddie Blassie, Verne Gagne, Stu Hart, and Sgt. Slaughter to name a few.

As a little kid growing up in Junction City, Kansas, just outside of Fort Riley, which happens to be an NWA Central States territory at the time, pro wrestling had a significant impact on my life more than I would realize at the time.

Truth be known, I had every intention of pursuing a career as a competitor in the square-circle after completing my Army career, but a life-changing injury while serving with the Army’s 10th Mountain Division dramatically changed my life professionally and personally.

I would soon come to realize the true meaning behind Alexander Graham Bell’s famous quote “When one door closes another opens.” Throughout my 50 years on this earth, like many visionaries and leaders who may have originally failed in their endeavors, I have used similar moments to learn from my mistakes and move forward.  Submitting to failures and setbacks were not an option nor would they be reasons to quit; rather they would serve as new opportunities to charge forward.

My professional and philanthropic endeavors have brought me great joy and success over the years as a Public Affairs Officer (PAO), U.S. Army Recruiting Command, Advertising and Public Affairs, Chief of Public Affairs, Department of Veterans Affairs, and as a sports marketing professional. Throughout this period my love of the military,  pro wrestling, and combat sports have always been a constant.

I have been blessed to work with great, patriotic organizations such as the WWE, UFC, TNA, and a multitude of independent wrestling promotions who share in my passion for caring and supporting those who gave some and continue to remember our fallen warriors who gave all and their families they left behind.

It is apparent the leadership and innovators behind All Elite Wrestling (AEW)  are committed to social responsibility as one of my childhood idols “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes who gave of his time, talent and treasure in support of various charitable organizations in the Bay County (Florida) area to include wounded military veterans and Shriners Hospital for Children.

For decades my charge along with my patriotic, socially responsible cohorts has been to Fight for the Fallen ™ whether on the battlefield, advocating for veterans and their families throughout all levels of government, or in our local communities by developing and executing support and public awareness programs benefiting those who answered America’s call to duty.

My cohorts and I would relish an opportunity to share our warrior wisdom, time, talent, and treasures with AEW leadership with the intent of joining forces in continuing to Fight for the Fallen™ while making history and contributing to AEW’s future success.

In closing, President Harry S. Truman said  “Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices.”

Thank you, and God bless our military, our Veterans, and our Nation.
